Many residents who grew up in Blue Ridge remembered the area of town that African Americans occupied as colored town, and not much else. Further investigation revealed a well kept cemetery. There was also a plaque dedicated to the school that operated there until 1964, and the Padgett's Chapel AME church. Padgett's Chapel was one of the historic buildings surveyed and added to
