How do different generations view Fannin County?

Fannin County has been in flux for generations. Its main source of income has shifted from agricultural to industrial, and now to a post-industrial reliance on tourism. Though some things stayed the same across the generations, how you view the town is entirely dependent on when you lived there.

Change In Review

Are the changes in Fannin County good? That depends on who you ask. As in all instances of development, growth, and gentrification, there are beneficial and detrimental effects.

Dividing the people who shared their stories into two camps to answer this question is incredibly difficult, and ultimately a gross oversimplification of each individual's nuanced and complex opinions on the matter.

Most people have mixed feelings on the issue. The one thing that everyone agrees on is that tourism boosted the local economy, the thing that everyone seems to disagree on is at what cost this economic growth comes.
